ONE OF THE MOST HIGHLY ANTICIPATED MOVIES OF 2013!
"You don't turn your back on family, even when they do."
The Fast and Furious movies have evolved over the years ever since the industries' first movie was released in theatres in 2001. These movies star Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, and many other amazing actors and actresses. For a full cast list and plot of summary of previous movies, click the link that you wish to see.
The theme of never turning your back on your family was evident throughout all Fast and Furious movies, but it is even more so in Fast & Furious 6. In this movie, Dominic Toretto, Brian O'Conner, and the rest of the gang who have been brought together in Fast Five, risk their lives to save and rescue Letty. Though Letty seems to have turn her back on the Torettos after all these years, Dom doesn't care. Taking a bullet from a gun that was shot by Letty herself, Dom doesn't give up hope and risks his life further to save her.
As the release date for Fast and Furious 6 was May 24, 2013, the box office pulled in $117M domestically and $158M internationally, selling 314.2 million tickets over the Memorial Day weekend. This broke box office records and made many news headlines.
Even though this highly anticipated movie broke records and had people taking, this movie was definitely not the best movie that the franchise has produced. The plot was reversed from Fast Five's plot. To make it even worse, there was practically no illegal racing in the movie. Fast & Furious 6 had literally 10 minutes of street racing, 5 minutes as the intro to the movie and another 5 in the middle.
When you think of the Fast and Furious movie franchise you think of street racing, not a team of criminals trying to take down other criminals. These Fast and Furious movies had evolved into something that has drifted far from street racing and 'just trying to get by'. This movie still had the crime aspect of it but the lead characters were on the law's side. All five Fast and Furious movies that came before this one had the lead characters as the unlawful and mischief making ones. By changing the protagonists to good and the antagonists to bad just makes Fast and Furious 6 like every other movie out there.
What made the Fast and Furious franchise so popular WAS he street racing and the fact that the protagonists were the criminals who practically could never get caught. By changing both of these aspects in the 6th movie, the Fast and Furious franchise joined all the other action movies.
Fast and Furious movies are known to be imitated and unique. This particular one is just the opposite.
Although this was by far the worst movie that the franchise has produced, many, many people paid money to watch it. In spite my opinion and the movies' twisted plot I have to give credit to the actors and actresses who worked so hard to make this movie what it is today. They were the ones who hooked the audience to the first movie and has pulled them through the rest.
No matter what the reviews are or what they say, the bottom line is they pulled in tons of profit, making millions. Therefore, the movie was successful in an unsuccessful way.
